Rochester is in New York, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. Getting around Rochester is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across New York's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

The bagels here are great and this is why it gets a 5. However, there are major operational and management issues with this place: 1. Opening hours… There is always a line but they usually won’t open the doors on time. Also why 8 am opening on weekends? People get up early, and some people do work on Saturdays. 2. There are 6-7 people working and seemingly hard. But everyone is doing the same job. And the process is slow. Why not 1 person get the bagel orders and maybe send off people who buy plain.. and or pass the bagel to someone to slap the cream cheese on.. They are still using manual bagel slicers.. hand writing orders.. the refrigerator is on 1 side.. they are bumping into each other trying to get stuff… It is painful to watch. This place also only probanly needs 4 employees max if it makes some efficiency tweaks. 3. The cashier should be someone fast. At least during peak hours. You shouldnt train new employees say Saturday morning. My 2 cents.

Amazing bagels! Great variety, friendly and efficient service. Easy parking in front of the building and around the side.

You can watch them make the bagels as you stand in line! The line was long, but worth it. There are many employees taking orders. If you just want bagels in a bag, you can skip the line. The bagels are delicious, and I also tried the almond poppy bread and decaf coffee.

I’m ready to say this is by far the best place to get bagels in Rochester! Huge variety, and the bagels are fresh with the perfect crunch on the outside and soft on the inside. Lots of homemade cream cheese options. They also bake a wide variety of goods and have discount pricing on day old items. Prices are great and service is super quick. Of all the bagels we tried the Montreal everything bagel was my favorite because of it softer bread and slightly sweeter flavor. Another note is they put a ton of cream cheese on the bagel which is great but also offer a discounted price for those who don’t want so much cream cheese.

As one of Rochester's most well-known Bagel Shops, Balsam Bagels features a variety of bagels and other baked goods! I had a French Toast bagel for the first time in my life and it was so delicious. The staff was kind and moved fast to accommodate all the patrons that were in line (on a Tuesday morning). Will definitely be back in the future 😊
